Kindergarten Connection

Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa

                         Last Week

We had 2 days last week with everyone in attendance!! We love days when our class is complete 😊.

Bucks for Brown envelopes may still be sent. Thank you for considering a donation to our PTO for all the amazing things they do for our school and students! We are so blessed to have parents committed to enhancing the learning and culture of Brown School each and every day.

In Science we have become Weather Reporters. We are charting 8 days of weather together. We will then look at the data and come to conclusions about St. Joe weather in late September.

We have been happy to use or iPads lately for something other than NWEA! The class was introduced to SeeSaw and SplashLearn, and have already learned use of Epic, Raz-kids and Wixie. They are all becoming more comfortable with the apps we use at school.

The October Leader calendars were placed in the back pocket of your child's take home folder on Friday. Please refer to them for upcoming events and leader assignments. I also sent home the October Homework Calendar. If your child has finished the September homework calendar, please sign the bottom and return it to school. Children receive a trip to the treasure chest when the calendar is returned. 👏

Please make sure to look in your child’s folder every day and remove notes. Important papers and work are sent home often.

Your child should have a leak-proof water bottle each day. Gym/tennis shoes are best every day for safety on our playground,

but must be worn on Friday for PE (Gym) class.

Never hesitate to email me (ldelapa@sjschools.org) with any questions you may have regarding any of our “kindergarten stuff.”

Snack and Leaders

Your child will come home with the Leader bag the night before his/her leader day. There is a notebook inside with directions for sharing both a snack with the class and a Show and Tell item. Please refer to the calendar in the back of your child's take home folder for leader and other important dates. I will place the monthly calendars in the folders for your reference.

We have a child with a nut allergy in our class so please refrain from sending snacks with nuts of any kind.

We will snack in the morning each day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  Thank you for sending a leak-proof water bottle with your child each day.

Hi Parents and Families,

Just a quick reminder as we stay active and have fun in P.E. class — please make sure your child wears proper shoes on P.E. days! Our class has P.E. EVERY FRIDAY.

What kind of shoes are best?
✔ Sneakers or athletic shoes
✔ Shoes that cover the whole foot (closed-toe and closed-heel)
✔ Shoes that fit well and stay on securely (laces or Velcro)

Please avoid:
✘ Sandals or flip-flops
✘ Crocs or slip-on shoes
✘ Boots or dress shoes
✘ Shoes with heels or platforms

These types of shoes can make it hard — and even unsafe — for your child to run, jump, and play during P.E. Students without safe footwear may need to sit out or do an alternate activity instead.

We really appreciate your help in keeping everyone safe and ready to move. If you have any questions or need help with finding proper footwear, feel free to reach out.

Thanks so much for your support!
