Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


                      Last Week


What a beautiful weekend it has been! It is SO good to see the sun and have temperatures that let us get outside and enjoy this winter wonderland of ours. I hope you were able to do some of that. 


Last week we finished up our language arts unit on Weather. We will begin a new unit for all of us about Trains. It looks like it will be a fun time of learning. You will be surprised at all your child may teach you about trains by the end of the unit. 🚆


Our 100th day party was big fun on Friday! I hope your child showed you all the ways we showed how many 100 is! They didn't believe me when I told them we would have 100 snacks. It was fun to see them realize what that looked like. 


I sent the Valentine information home on Friday. Attached to the classmate names are the directions for addressing the valentines. Please reach out with questions if you are unsure how this works. More info below.

 

Each day your child needs...

  • a water bottle
  • appropriate outerwear
  • shoes

Snack and Leaders

Those students who missed their leader day are welcome to bring a Show and Tell to share. A snack is not necessary.

We have a child with a nut allergy in our class so please refrain from sending snacks with nuts of any kind.

We will snack in the morning each day. Sending 1 snack is plenty as our lunch time is later in the day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  

Next Week Events


Our Brown Student Council is hosting a SPIRIT DAY this coming Monday, Feb. 2, in honor of our 101st Day of School!  Everyone is invited to dress as a 101-year old for this special day.  We are celebrating our age and wisdom as we are all 101 days smarter!


Our next guest reader will be Mr. Brohman  on Tuesday, February 3. Please come at 3:15 with 3-4 of your favorite books. We will see you then 😀.


Upcoming Events


Tuesday, February 10 (rescheduled date)-Ice Skating at the Howard Ice Arena ⛸. 


Lego Night is Wednesday, 2/11 at Brown School from 5:30-7:00 (Sorry about the wrong date last week, I didn't know it was changed). Come enjoy the fun of Legos with your Brown School family! This is always a really fun event.


Friday, February 13--Valentine's Day Celebration-We will make Valentine bags in class for collection. I will send home

directions for how to address your child's valentines and class lists on Friday. As far as valentines go, you will be given a sheet with each of our classmates' names and numbers in boxes. Your child is to cut out all the names and tape or glue one on each valentine to be distributed during our party. Your child will only need to sign his/her name to the valentines they wish to give to classmates. It is a great matching activity as each child will have made a Valentine Bag at school with the same name and number box. If you have any questions once you get the sheet, please let me know. 




Thursday and Friday, February 12, 13--1/2 day of school--Parent/Teacher conferences-I will send a sign up schedule early this

week for those I would like to meet with.


Monday, February 16-No school for students--PD for Staff


Friday, February 27-1/2 day of school--End of Trimester 2

Our kiddos did a nice job of staying focused and following directions. This is strictly a baseline and also a first for these students. We will take the Math piece next week. The results will come home with progress reports at the end of the Trimester. It has been fun getting the hang of Table and Math Centers in our room. The children are making good choices and enjoying the experiences. Table centers reinforce skills from any of our curriculum areas.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week If you are able, please send your assigned item Gingerbread item to school on Monday. I will be shopping for any needed items a items after school. You can also let me know if you are sending your item on Tuesday so I don't pick up unneeded things.. There is still time to get those Christmas trees in. They decorate our hallway so beautifully 🎄. Our class sizes has had some changes the last couple of weeks. Our Jaycion went to a different class and we are getting a new student on Monday. We are happy to welcome Ian to our class and look forward to helping him to feel welcomed.  Our class size is 25 children again now 😊.     Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                            Last Week My goodness the end of the year has come so quickly. The students have been anxious to help with packing up and cleaning the room. I can't speak to what happens at home, but each one of them is very helpful and great at cleaning and organizing. It has been fun working as a team getting our room ready for summer! Step Up Day was a big hit on Thursday. Our class spent 15 ish minutes with Mrs. Brown and 15 in Mrs. Miller's class. They got a small taste of what 1st grade will be like.  Ask your child what he/she learned about 1st grade.  Summer Reading Challenge information went home with the Book Bonanza books.
