Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


                      Last Week


I sure hope that all our classmates are feeling better and will have some full attendance days. We missed our people!


We were so excited on Thursday afternoon when another teacher stopped in during our Math lesson to tell us she was so impressed with how engaged all the students were with the lesson. She then gave us our 10th Class Paws ticket!! It has been our goal that we would have Donuts if/when we get 10. I could not have been happier to bring donuts on Friday morning 😋.


We brainstormed and voted on our next 10 Class ticket goal which is an extra recess of running the track. I will keep you posted on how we are doing. I'm pretty sure the snow will have plenty of time to melt. 


We had an interior lock down drill on Wednesday and the children did beautifully. 

Snack and Leaders

Those students who missed their leader day are welcome to bring a Show and Tell to share. A snack is not necessary.

We have a child with a nut allergy in our class so please refrain from sending snacks with nuts of any kind.

We will snack in the morning each day. Sending 1 snack is plenty as our lunch time is later in the day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  

Next Week Events


Tuesday, February 10 (rescheduled date)-Ice Skating at the Howard Ice Arena ⛸. Please have your child wear tall socks if possible for skate comfort. It looks like it is going to be a great day.


Our next guest reader will be Mrs. Miller on Wednesday, February 11. Please come at 3:15 with 3-4 of your favorite books. We will see you then 😀.


Lego Night is Wednesday, 2/11 at Brown School from 5:30-7:00. Come enjoy the fun of Legos with your Brown School family! This is always a really fun event.


Friday, February 13--Valentine's Day Celebration-We will make Valentine bags in class for collection. Please use the sheet with directions that I sent for valentine addressing. It is a great matching activity as each child will have made a Valentine Bag at school with the same name and number box. If you have any questions once you get the sheet, please let me know. 

I will happily send home another sheet with names for you if needed.


Valentines may be brought to school any day this week 💖

Our kiddos did a nice job of staying focused and following directions. This is strictly a baseline and also a first for these students. We will take the Math piece next week. The results will come home with progress reports at the end of the Trimester. It has been fun getting the hang of Table and Math Centers in our room. The children are making good choices and enjoying the experiences. Table centers reinforce skills from any of our curriculum areas.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week If you are able, please send your assigned item Gingerbread item to school on Monday. I will be shopping for any needed items a items after school. You can also let me know if you are sending your item on Tuesday so I don't pick up unneeded things.. There is still time to get those Christmas trees in. They decorate our hallway so beautifully 🎄. Our class sizes has had some changes the last couple of weeks. Our Jaycion went to a different class and we are getting a new student on Monday. We are happy to welcome Ian to our class and look forward to helping him to feel welcomed.  Our class size is 25 children again now 😊.     Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                            Last Week My goodness the end of the year has come so quickly. The students have been anxious to help with packing up and cleaning the room. I can't speak to what happens at home, but each one of them is very helpful and great at cleaning and organizing. It has been fun working as a team getting our room ready for summer! Step Up Day was a big hit on Thursday. Our class spent 15 ish minutes with Mrs. Brown and 15 in Mrs. Miller's class. They got a small taste of what 1st grade will be like.  Ask your child what he/she learned about 1st grade.  Summer Reading Challenge information went home with the Book Bonanza books.
