Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


                      Last Week


Our YMCA preschool visits went well. We loved showing them around and telling them about Kindergarten. Hopefully your child told you about his/her buddies.


We had a school lock down drill on Monday while our students were in Music class. Mrs. Richards reported that all did well. It is good for the children to learn how to do drills in other spaces.


The 5th grade performance was really good. We can't wait to learn how to play the Ukelele when we are in 5th grade! 


All eyes were screened on Thursday by our local Lions' Club. It was a very quick screening done with a device that took a picture of our eyes. I have not recieved any word for any of my students. No news is good news but I will pass along any results that come my way.

We have a child with a nut allergy in our class so please refrain from sending snacks with nuts of any kind.

We will snack in the morning each day. Sending 1 snack is plenty as our lunch time is later in the day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  

Next Week Events


Our Positivity Project trait is -Supporting Others When They Struggle-I do my best to help others.


We will begin the week with new seats. As crazy as it sounds, these will probably be our last seat change of the year. 😞


Our Spring Mileage Club will be held on Monday/Wednesday/Friday during lunch recess this week. This is all about creating healthy exercise habits for our students. Ask you child how many laps they had during Mileage Club. days.

Friday, May 15th-Heston Train Museum in LaPorte, IN. We are SO excited about this trip! All of the kindergarten classes

in the district will be there together which will be really fun. I sent emails this morning regarding this trip. Please let me know if

Our kiddos did a nice job of staying focused and following directions. This is strictly a baseline and also a first for these students. We will take the Math piece next week. The results will come home with progress reports at the end of the Trimester. It has been fun getting the hang of Table and Math Centers in our room. The children are making good choices and enjoying the experiences. Table centers reinforce skills from any of our curriculum areas.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week If you are able, please send your assigned item Gingerbread item to school on Monday. I will be shopping for any needed items a items after school. You can also let me know if you are sending your item on Tuesday so I don't pick up unneeded things.. There is still time to get those Christmas trees in. They decorate our hallway so beautifully 🎄. Our class sizes has had some changes the last couple of weeks. Our Jaycion went to a different class and we are getting a new student on Monday. We are happy to welcome Ian to our class and look forward to helping him to feel welcomed.  Our class size is 25 children again now 😊.     Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                            Last Week My goodness the end of the year has come so quickly. The students have been anxious to help with packing up and cleaning the room. I can't speak to what happens at home, but each one of them is very helpful and great at cleaning and organizing. It has been fun working as a team getting our room ready for summer! Step Up Day was a big hit on Thursday. Our class spent 15 ish minutes with Mrs. Brown and 15 in Mrs. Miller's class. They got a small taste of what 1st grade will be like.  Ask your child what he/she learned about 1st grade.  Summer Reading Challenge information went home with the Book Bonanza books.
