Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa


                      Last Week


With Spring sports beginning last week, it is fun to hear the news about the children seeing each other at the fields and even playing against each other. I love small town life!!


Your child may have shared that we all planted green bean seeds last week. They are my are "go to" choice because they grow so quickly. 🌱 As soon as they get big enough to need replanting, your child will bring his/her's home. They are all so excited about this! I have had families send me pictures of of the beans from their child's plants. So fun!


We have been reviewing high frequency words each day. Please work with these words at home with your child as well. Each word learned helps the reading process move forward. If you need me to send home another copy of the words, I will be happy to. Just let me know.

We have a child with a nut allergy in our class so please refrain from sending snacks with nuts of any kind.

We will snack in the morning each day. Sending 1 snack is plenty as our lunch time is later in the day. It is not necessary for you to send a snack with your child, as the leader provides it each day.  

Next Week Events


Our Positivity Project trait is -Perseverance-I keep trying even when things are hard.


Monday there is no school for students due to Teacher Professional Development.


Be on the lookout for green bean plants to come home next week 😊.


We will see the 4th grade performance Wednesday afternoon. Be sure to ask your child about it.

Friday, May 1 is Principal's Day. We are making cards for Mr. Hernandez (shhh). We are so blessed to have him leading
Brown School. He is a natural and his passion for education

and love for all students shines through each day.

Friday, May 15th-Heston Train Museum in LaPorte, IN. We are SO excited about this trip! All of the kindergarten classes

in the district will be there together which will be really fun. I sent emails this morning regarding this trip. Please let me know if

you have questions.


No School-Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day



Tuesday, May 26-Brown School Picnic-There are many opportunities to volunteer. This is a really fun day for all!


Thursday, May 28- End of the Year Classroom Party


Friday, May 29-Last Day of School 😥

Our kiddos did a nice job of staying focused and following directions. This is strictly a baseline and also a first for these students. We will take the Math piece next week. The results will come home with progress reports at the end of the Trimester. It has been fun getting the hang of Table and Math Centers in our room. The children are making good choices and enjoying the experiences. Table centers reinforce skills from any of our curriculum areas.   Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                               Last Week If you are able, please send your assigned item Gingerbread item to school on Monday. I will be shopping for any needed items a items after school. You can also let me know if you are sending your item on Tuesday so I don't pick up unneeded things.. There is still time to get those Christmas trees in. They decorate our hallway so beautifully 🎄. Our class sizes has had some changes the last couple of weeks. Our Jaycion went to a different class and we are getting a new student on Monday. We are happy to welcome Ian to our class and look forward to helping him to feel welcomed.  Our class size is 25 children again now 😊.     Kindergarten Connection Your child's week with Mrs. DeLapa                            Last Week My goodness the end of the year has come so quickly. The students have been anxious to help with packing up and cleaning the room. I can't speak to what happens at home, but each one of them is very helpful and great at cleaning and organizing. It has been fun working as a team getting our room ready for summer! Step Up Day was a big hit on Thursday. Our class spent 15 ish minutes with Mrs. Brown and 15 in Mrs. Miller's class. They got a small taste of what 1st grade will be like.  Ask your child what he/she learned about 1st grade.  Summer Reading Challenge information went home with the Book Bonanza books.
